These blanks are handpicked, and only I have personally selected only the finest of them for your turning pleasure! You will not be disappointed, "If I wouldn't turn 'em, I'd rather burn 'em!"
Grain structure is maximized by the crosscut section. The purple, pink, yellow hues blending together with the rich dark lines give these a special eye catching ability...often seen only in blanks costing far more. This batch has a touch more sapwood on the ends, but it looks oh so sweet!

Pignut Hickory "standard" crosscut pen blank

Some spalting, not a lot...but the tones and hues from the crosscut are awesome against the grin structure. The piece on top was turned round and sanded with 400grit, then some EEE was buffed on!
There are some worm trails, and they are still holding 'soft dust' that you would want to stabilize with thin CA during the turning(it's what I'd do). There is also some bark inclusion going on in some of the pieces(the darker brown coloring you see in the photo-blank furthest to the right)....do the same with the thin CA.

Finally, I know....been waiting forever for them to be ready to turn. I turned a piece this morning and had no issues. All I can say is you better jump on these now, can't tell how long they will last. Some pieces do not have spalting, some do...some have bark inclusions, some don't. I grab them from the top of the pile and put them in a box.
These are amazing, tones and hues between sap and heart wood and the unique grain structure....WOW!!!

Had to find some more in the shed, this was just too nice to run out of!! The grain structure, the spalting(some have more then others)...just stunning. Almost see the 'rays' of the sun shining back at you after you turn these!

Finally the moisture meter told me it was okay to get these available for everyones enjoyment! While you may have seen some blanks lately with spalting, these are stained and somewhat spalted....and won't break the bank!
The photo to the left is a random handful of what you can get from my stack'o-stuff....if I wouldn't turn 'um - I'd rather burn 'em!! Some of the prettiest wood I've seen on the net, and at a tenth of the price. I selected these five pieces(photo'd) from the top of the stack, some will look better, some will not.....
