Had thought about doing a small video of the process to roll it onto the mill. But I quickly thought about how boring that would be, so I sort of did a time lapse photo shoot. And I want you to know, it takes more time to run back-n-forth to take picture then it does to actually move the log into position. The photo series can be seen at the following link: http://www.worldofwoodforum.com/vb/showthread.php?5631-The-other-logging-thread just go to page five of that topic. Of course, the log had other plans, like being far too large for even the upright to fit over, so I had to peel some bark and turn it while it was laying on the bunk of the mill(that's always fun).
With the extra running around doing the photo thing, I only made four passes on the log before it was time to clean up and get ready for supper! But from the wood grain I was seeing so far, this log is going to yield some fine slabs!
Between Bob and Lyn, they have added 7 new poly resin swirled pen blanks this month! A big way to go from me on that!!! Takes some really good imagination to dream up those colors swirls....and a fair amount of patience too!
Thanks for looking, reading...and if you chose to comment, that would be welcomed also!
Until next time!
