Also known as River Birch or Water Birch. But we should probably call it Betula nigra to keep it simple....
The photos below are just a few 'sample shots' of what is available. By no means should you think that every piece of this beautiful timber I have cut up is dry/seasoned, this is 'green' timber and should be stored and turned accordingly. Not sure how to do that? No problem, while I'm helping you load it into your vehicle we'll get the 'low-down' on it for you. I have a limited supply of crotch blanks....some I will probably be turning myself. Most blanks will be simple half log blanks, meaning I split the log with the sawmill and then sliced with a chainsaw into 'chunks' that are approximately the same length as the width. A few 'flat blanks' will be offered too(think platter type blanks of varying thickness-mostly 2-3inch thick).
Price range on this species will be from $2 to $10 per piece(depending on size and figure). Discount for larger quantities purchased!!! See below photo's....
These are just some of the pieces I have available! You should definitely not wait to make the trip out on a weekend to fill the car, truck or trailer up! The photo above would average you about $5/ea!!!
I can even find some 'end grain' type blanks, while not as easy to turn as these are, the finished products are very dramatic to say the least.
Yes....$5/ea!!! Crazy low prices! But these do not ship....
